Group Intelligence – What really makes groups produce results, or not…?

A group’s interactions drive its intelligence more than the brain power of individual members.

In a recent new study published on group intelligence, the results showed that the collective intelligence of a group or team, wasn’t determined by the intelligence of the individuals within it, but more by the way that they interact with each other.

Now we already know this to be true, but it’s always good to see more research on the subject. When you really get a group or team working well together the sum of the whole really does become more than the sum of the parts, and conversely – you can put a group of very talented, intelligent individuals together to work on something and it can produce dismal results if they can’t find a way to work together. Team dynamics are the crucial factor.
